My name is Phyllis Blaha. I was a teacher of emotionally disturbed children for over 25 years. I am now retired and live on a small farm in the mountains of NE Alabama, an hour south of Huntsville. When not engaged in my many home improvement projects or gardening, I can spend a large part of my day with the Coton de Tulear dogs and Puppies and provide the care and attention they deserve.
I have been an Coton de Tulear Breeder for over 13 years. I enjoy the companionship of the Cotons de Tulear, their unique personalities, the challenge of training and of exhibiting at dog shows. I started out breeding and showing Springer Spaniels. I didn't really enjoy (AKC) showing at the beginning, and ultimately decided that the breed needed more work than I was prepared for. I did, however, feel that I would be willing to devote myself to a breed that was in a better state and that a rare breed would be the way to go. The result was that I purchased my first Coton de Tulear in 1993. Since then I have found myself completely enamored of these little dogs and would like to share my reasons with you. Please look over the following pages, (occasionally updated), and see why the Coton de Tulear is such an enchanting breed.
